Ivano-Frankivsk International Airport leads its history since 1940, when the airfield was built on the territory of the city for the basing of the 12th Fighter Airlock from the 64th Aviation Division.

During the Second World War, the flight composition performed combat missions.

From 1948, the 192nd Fighter Yard Cutuzov, the 192th Fighter Airlines was based, which in 1968 was transferred to Czechoslovakia to participate in the Danube operation. In 1984, the regiment returned to Ivano-Frankivsk and was located here until 1989, until he was disbanded.

In 1962, the first airport was built.

In 1964, a Soviet-Czech air base was formed on the basis of the air harbor.

Since 1982, the 145th Fighter Aviation Regiment, based in Ivano-Frankivsk, performed combat missions in Afghanistan.
