Ust-Kut Airport, located 12 km from the same name of the city in the Irkutsk region, leads its history since 1963, when the Ground WFP was equipped on top of the hill.

The first three years, the runway was only suitable for takeoff and landing An-2, Il-14, An-24, An-26, Il-14, An-2, Yak-12, as well as Mi-2 and Mi helicopters -4.

In 1966, snow complied with snow, and WFP became suitable for receiving the A-12 aircraft.

In 1970, when diamond mining in Yakutia and the construction of Bama began, the importance of Ust-Kut airport increased: passenger flights performed on Yak-40 were introduced into the chart.

In 1975, the aircraft bubbase buildings, the dispatching points of the UDV, the warehouse of fuel and lubricants, as well as warehouse for goods.

In 1979, an artificial runway was built and equipped with light-signal equipment with a tool system for round-the-clock reception of airfront in a complex meteorological situation.

In the 1980s, Ust-Kut Airport became the leader in the volume of shipment of goods in the East Siberian GA.

In 1985, a concrete pearron, a dock for helicopters, a rescue station building, insulated boxing equipment, an extra room for helicopters, equipped the centralized system of refueling aircraft and helicopters were installed on the territory of the aircraft.

In the 1990s, a sharp decline in the development of the airport began, shipping of goods decreased 10 times, and passengers – 15 times.

In 2007, the controlling stake in Ust-Kut JSC passed to the property of the airline UTair.

In 2008, the company’s profit increased significantly due to the mass transport of watches on the oil deposits of the Irkutsk region.

2018 UTair has serious financial problems (loss of 22 billion rubles) with the loss of the payment of loans received. To reduce costs, the main shareholder viewed the elimination of the airfield as such and the transfer of it to the category of landing site. It made it possible not to spend money on additional certification. Later it was nice to keep the airport in the same status.

Now the airport Ust-Kut class “G” is the third largest air harbor of regional importance in Eastern Siberia (after Irkutsk and Bratsk). Among the others it is used for socially significant and emergency air transport.
